Carleton College welcomes applicants for the position of Applications Support Programmer.


Purpose of this Position:

Carleton College is seeking an Applications Programmer with solid, demonstrable technical successes with programming across multiple environments. Programming experience, along with excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication skills are essential. We desire a programmer who possesses an in-depth understanding of Datatel’s Colleague software and Unidata (IBM). The focus of this position will be to support Datatel’s Colleague modules.

This full-time (12 months per year), exempt, regular, benefit eligible, staff position reports to the Director of Information Technology Services and Associate Director of Information Technology Services.

Responsibilities:

Programming, reporting, and troubleshooting for Colleague database and associated applications.

Assist users with upgrade implementations, problem resolution, solution testing, and process improvements.

Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot web applications, such as WebAdvisor and third party web solutions.

Integrate data from various databases (Unidata, Oracle, SQL Server) so it can be used in a data warehouse and/or to satisfy reporting needs.

Report writing with tools such as Envision and Safari ODBC.

Write and maintain documentation.

Provide coverage for other team members.

Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and full-time work experience with integrated information systems. Minimum 2 years database programming experience.

Demonstrated experience with Datatel’s Colleague, including Envision; or equivalent experience in another major higher-ed ERP.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, documentation and organizational skills; ability to follow through with customers and colleagues.

Preferred:

Knowledge of data warehouse solutions.

Experience working within a higher education environment.

Experience working with databases such as Unidata and MS SQL.
