Carleton College welcomes applicants for the position of Business Process Analyst.  It is a full-time, exempt, benefit eligible, regular staff position.

 

Purpose of this Position:

The Business Process Analyst will help the various offices within Carleton College make optimal use of our major information systems and analytical tools.  These systems and tools include our ERP system, document management system, as well as querying and reporting, and also OLAP and data mining tools.  The Business Process Analyst will listen, learn how people do their jobs, resolve problems, help implement business process changes, recommend new software, train, advise, and in general, help people work more effectively with major institutional software and data.  The Business Process Analyst will also translate user problems and needs into documentation and requirements that other IT staff can grasp and implement.  Finally, the Business Process Analyst will help Carleton, in general, to ensure an integrated and seamless approach to institutional system support.  The Business Process Analyst will report to the Director of Information Technology Services.

 

Responsibilities:

·         Analyze and assess office informational needs; recommend appropriate technological solutions.

·         Support campus staff in the use of  Carleton’s information systems, including Colleague and OnBase.

·         Facilitate data access, analysis, and exploration using appropriate methods and tools.

·         Ensure effective delivery of proposed technical solutions by working collaboratively with both end users and IT staff members.

·         Provide project management services and follow-up assessments of adopted recommendations.

·         Offer training to users as needed, in both one-on-one and group settings.

·         Utilize institutional reporting tools in designing and generating reports for the college information systems.

·         Assist other IT staff with enhancements or changes to major software systems.

·         Create clear and accurate written documentation.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Required: 

·           A bachelor's degree and minimum of two years' experience supporting business applications in a multi-user environment.

·           Strong analytical, technical, organizational, communication, and people skills.

·           An ability to translate business processes, work flows, and user requirements into technical descriptions and requirements.

·           Ability to learn new programming languages and applications.

·           Experience setting up reports in an ERP or other large-scale system context.

·           Proficiency with Microsoft desktop applications, particularly Excel and Access.

Preferred: 

·            Experience supporting business operations in a higher education setting including admissions, registration, financial aid, and/or student accounts.

·            Experience with OnBase.

·            Experience with Cognos BI 8 or other business intelligence, OLAP, or reporting tools.

·            Experience with Datatel Colleague or other major higher-ed ERP system.

·            Experience with query and reporting tools such as MS Access, Cognos BI 8, Safari.
