Computer Science Laboratory/Tech Support Coordinator

The Computer Science Laboratory and Technical SupportCoordinator reports to, and is supervised by, the Chair of the Department ofComputer Science. The primary responsibility of the person filling thisposition is to support the teaching, research, and outreach missions of theComputer Science Department. A secondary responsibility of the person fillingthis position is to support projects that extend beyond the Computer ScienceDepartment such as maintaining the campus DyKnow server, imaging Tablet PC carts,and providing Linux support for faculty in other departments. Additionalprojects may be requested by the Library and Information Systems Department.These requests will be made to the chair of the computer science department,who will approve the task assignments and set priorities for their completionif appropriate. It is intended that approximately 15% to 20% of the overallwork of the person filling this position will involve projects outside of theComputer Science Department. 

Depending on education, qualifications and experience, the laboratory andtechnical support coordinator may also hold the title of part time laboratoryinstructor. In this case the coordinator may be asked to teach laboratorysections of CSC121 (Computer Science One) if the full time faculty members arenot able to teach all of the laboratory sections.
