Gettysburg College invites applications for the position of Data and Software Architect. Reporting to the Associate Director of Data Systems, this position will be responsible for implementing data storage and movement capabilities, involvement in cloud and web services design and implementation, staying current with industry trends, and reporting back to inform decision-making.The successful candidate will have significant experience with web design, databases and application programming. A college or advanced degree in CS or a related discipline is preferred.
Summary Job Responsibilities:· Responsible for the accuracy and movement of data between all systems including the optimization of data flow and the development of new integration points.· For complex web applications performs a variety of tasks including analysis, design, programming, implementation, troubleshooting and documentation.· Maintains an awareness of industry trends and technical knowledge of the current cloud, hosting, and web services technologies to ensure currency of best practices in the industry.· Performs research and recommendations of new tools and technologies to improve and standardize application development methodologies for the department. Technical Skill Requirements: · Complete and thorough understanding of current web technology including JAVA, JavaScript, HTML, CSSS, XML, PERL, ColdFusion, UNIX and all web browsers.· Knowledge and experience with IBM Cognos 8 Business Intelligence, PeopleSoft, and Visual Basic is a plus.· Have a working knowledge of Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server database technology with the ability to write and debug complex SQL statements and stored procedures
