Director Administrative Systems - Davidson College

Effective immediately, there is an opening for the position of Director of Administrative Systems in the Information Technology Services department. This is a regular, full-time, 40 hours per week, 12 months per year, salaried position. Salary based on skills, education and experience of the chosen applicant.

 

 

BASIC FUNCTION: The director leads the team responsible for administrative technology to achieve high levels of system availability, usability, security, and client service. The director is the campus leader in effective application of administrative technology.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 
  • Manage the team that develops, implements, and supports enterprise applications used throughout the college’s administrative offices.  Applications include the college’s ERP system (Sungard Banner), an enterprise data warehouse, and an enterprise reporting system.
  • Work closely with department and division leaders to identify and deliver effective and efficient administrative technology processes and systems.
  • Actively and enthusiastically promote the creative use of technology to improve productivity and enhance customer service across the campus.
  • Develop and implement administrative systems projects using well-defined project management methodologies from PMI or Six Sigma.
  • Collaboratively develop and implement an administrative computing strategic plan as part of the entire ITS strategic planning process.
  • Develop IT policies and procedures surrounding administrative systems and their respective data.
  • Develop and manage work plans for the administrative systems team.
  • Serve as a member of the Information Technology Services leadership team.
  • Other projects as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Office environment. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Successful candidates shall have a bachelor’s degree, 5 to7 years IT experience  with three years supervisory experience or a comparable combination of education and experience; demonstrated ability to lead administrative systems teams, ERP maintenance and development, application integration and ability to work collaboratively with IT staff and end users at all levels of technical ability. The position requires project management experience, excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, and commitment to outstanding client service. The position requires a broad understanding of enterprise administrative computing systems and technology trends and in-depth experience delivering and supporting technology services to wide range of users and customers. IT management experience in higher education and experience with Sungard Banner, Oracle, and PL/SQL are highly desirable.
