Director of Research and Instructional Support
Mount Holyoke College Library, Information, and Technology Services (LITS) Division seeks applications and nominations for an experienced, collaborative, creative, and service-oriented individual to direct the Research and Instructional Support (RIS) Department. Working within an integrated information and technology services and resources organization, the RIS Department is an innovative blend of librarians, instructional technologists, a part-time operations manager, and student assistants. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer and Executive Director of LITS and serving as a member of the LITS leadership team, the Director of RIS leads and manages the RIS Department which provides library research and instructional technology services and resources responsive to College teaching, learning, and research needs including effective integration of library research and technology skills and tools in the academic program; reference service and instructional technology consultation; design, development, and delivery of effective programs for faculty and students; and the development of a collection of information resources in all formats. Fosters team-based approach. Develops effective collaborative partnerships within LITS, the College community, the Five Colleges, and others.
Advanced degree in librarianship, information science, educational technology or related field required. ALA-accredited MLS degree preferred. Minimum of 5-10 years of current, innovative, and successful experience with library research and instructional technology services, collection development, and the integration of technology in teaching and learning. Understanding of pedagogical and research methodologies. Strong record of progressively-responsible leadership, managerial, and supervisory experience directly related to duties and responsibilities of the position, preferably in an academic environment. Excellent oral and written communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse group of faculty, students, administrators, staff, and others. Enthusiastic public service orientation with sensitivity to the needs of users at all skill levels; the ability to convey technical information to a non-technical audience is essential.
