Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist
The position supports the use of GIS in teaching, learning and research across the curriculum. The GIS Specialist will play a key role in supporting Dickinson College’s interdisciplinary Environmental and Sustainability Education Initiative, and will provide leadership for the effective use of GIS across disciplines. Supervisory Responsibilities: Student lab technicians Essential Functions:- Teaching an introductory GIS course as well as occasional workshops.
- Writing documentation for training and user support.
- The design and management of College-wide GIS facilities.
- Support faculty GIS projects.
- Support clients from all departments and programs in the College.
- Collaboration with other members of the ATS team in support of projects that have a GIS component.
- Writing memos and reports as needed.
- Perform ATS and LIS functions at the discretion of the Director.

Minimum qualifications include: At least a Master’s degree in geography, geosciences, environmental studies, computer science, urban planning, or an equivalent degree with relevant experience in GIS. Experience developing and delivering GIS training. Experience managing projects and working in a supervisory role. Experience using GIS as a research methodology in support of academic work. Experience with database management, data modeling, and data reporting using a relational database. Familiarity with the design and development of GIS applications using scripting or programming languages. Proficiency in statistical analysis.
