Head of Web Development & Applications Integration
The Library, Information and Technology Services (LITS) Division at Mount Holyoke College seeks a Head of Web Development & Applications Integration. Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure, Systems and Support; this position leads the department responsible for the College’s web-based architecture and technologies, middleware applications, and services with the goal of improving the ability of the College community to accomplish its teaching, learning, research and administrative objectives. This individual will be responsible for coordination, planning, implementation, and management of the College's web based technologies, services, and middleware applications. The Head acts as principle liaison to the institutional collaborative web planning and prioritization processes; develops strong working partnerships with constituent audiences; manages and participates in departmental projects and daily operations; and keeps abreast of new trends, tools, opportunities, and campus needs. The Head supervises and develops a strong staff with a focus on excellent service and fosters a team-based approach, encouraging professional growth, and ensuring adequate cross-training. Qualifications/Skills include: Minimum of three years of current experience with web development and applications integration technologies and services, including a thorough understanding of computer systems; web based system protocols; and middleware architectures. Must possess working knowledge of technologies such as enterprise content management system environments (e.g. RedDot), PERL, CSS, Ruby on Rails, Java/JSP, XML, XSLT, SQL, and Apache / Tomcat. Candidates must have a strong record of progressively-responsible leadership and supervisory experience, preferably in an academic environment; and the ability to develop, promote, and integrate web-based technologies and middleware application systems. Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, customer service and problem-solving skills are essential. Masters degree in an area that relates to web-based architecture and technologies preferred, but we will consider otherwise qualified candidates with experience that supports the requirements of the position.
