Colby College invites applications for the position of Instructional Technologist. As a member of the Academic Information Technology Services group and reporting to its director, the Instructional Technologist consults with faculty on the wide spectrum of educational technologies available to them. The Instructional Technologist helps faculty to assemble and manage effective technology environments for instruction and introduces developing technologies having demonstrable pedagogical value which are generally applicable across the breadth of the Colby curriculum and function in support of the specific curricular goals established by the faculty.
It is among the Instructional Technologist's specific responsibilities to:
The successful candidate will hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree (graduate degree preferred) and demonstrate the ability to work with college faculty teaching in a variety of styles and utilizing a wide range of educational technologies. Prior experience in a higher education environment is preferred and experience in a small, private, liberal arts settings is especially preferred.

It is among the Instructional Technologist's specific responsibilities to:
- Consult with faculty on effective instructional design practices for arranging media and content to aid student learning.
- Consult with faculty on best practices in use of course/learning management systems.
- Facilitate faculty adoption of web applications that foster collaboration among users.
- Facilitate student communication and learning beyond the traditional classroom model with educational technologies.
- Continually investigate and promote better ways of utilizing student owned computers in teaching and learning.
- Remain current on the range of pedagogical methods commonly employed at the collegiate level and develop ways of applying technology to them. For example, developing methods for applying technology as a component of project based learning.
- Design, develop, and deliver tutorials and workshops to faculty that demonstrate educational technologies and their pedagogical value.
- Provide organizational support to faculty and students on projects involving educational technology and help coordinate on-going support provided by other areas of IT Services.
