Job Description:
Full time, 12-month position. Reporting to the Director of Instructional and Emerging Technologies, the Instructional Technologist/Designer is responsible
for supporting the effective use of new and current technologies for
instructional purposes at the College by working collaboratively with
faculty and students. The team member in this position specializes in
the preparation and delivery of rich media instructional content, and
develops and supports related outreach opportunities while working
closely with other department members to support digital media design
and production spaces, on-demand instructional media access and
instructional management systems.
Primary responsibilities include:
* Supporting faculty
use of instructional technology to enhance teaching and learning in
classroom settings and as a supplement to the classroom;
* Facilitating the design, development, and delivery of
electronic instructional materials while serving as an internal
consultant to identify needs and develop and implement solutions;
* Consulting with and advising faculty on instructional
materials production and delivery options which are appropriate for the
College;
* Supporting and maintaining the hardware and software
associated with media production and related technology spaces
including Digital Media Production Stations, the Media Studio, and the
eLearning Laboratory;
* Hiring, training. and supervising student workers
associated with department-supported instructional development and
media production spaces;
* Maintaining up-to-date knowledge on the range of
pedagogical methods commonly employed at the collegiate level and
develop ways of applying technology to them.
Requirements:
Minimum
qualifications include a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in
instructional technology, instructional design/development and at least
two years of experience in an educational setting (higher education
preferred). Top qualified candidates will have a proven record of
experience in instructional technology; excellent oral, written and
visual communication skills; an ability to convey technical concepts
effectively to different constituencies at a level appropriate to the
audience, and an understanding of the mission of a liberal arts
college.
