BucknellUniversity seeks to hire an Instructional Technologist-Video Production Specialistwho is

directlyresponsible for supporting and adding value to the education Bucknell studentsreceive. He/She

worksdirectly with faculty in the application of technology by identifying,exploring, promoting and

supportingtechnology solutions and projects that benefit student learning and facultyinstruction, with

particularemphasis on video-related work. As part of the University's academic programs,the

InstructionalTechnologist-Video Production Specialist supports the development and productionof a

widerange of audio, video and multimedia materials and projects. This includesserving as the primary

contactfor support issues related to media editing, production and storage.

 

TheInstructional Technologist-Video Production Specialist fully engages withfaculty and students to

providerelevant instruction, outreach and support for teaching, learning andscholarship through the

creationand application of technology.

 

The VideoProduction Specialist:

· is responsible for theoversight of a dynamic and adaptable digital media program that effectively

supportsfaculty and students at all levels of expertise.

· provides operational oversightof the Media Lab, including account creation and storage allocation

forstudents, faculty and staff needs, and actively maintains and supports Labequipment, assuring

itssmooth operation.

· works closely with the UserServices and Technology Support groups to insure that the Media Lab

andclassrooms are properly configured, imaged and functioning as expected.

· collaborates with faculty toexplore technologies that may represent new opportunities for Bucknell

facultyin the classroom, in support of student learning or scholarship and serves as aprimary

teachingresource for media intensive courses focusing on media production and editing.

· provides specializedinstruction, advice and guidance in the application of technology by

collaborativelyand independently designing, teaching and/or assisting with workshops andone-onone

instructionfor faculty, students and staff to support the use of multimedia, mediaproduction

andinstructional applications supported by the University.

· trains and supervises studentstaff that provides direct digital media production support and other

advancedapplication support in the Library Media Lab.

· participates in decisions aboutthe priorities of various instructional technology projects.

· keeps apprised of developmentsin the field, make recommendations on new technologies and

purchases.

 

TheVideo Production Specialist must keep abreast of changing technology generallyand its application

in thehigher education environment specifically. Also, the Video ProductionSpecialist maintains a deep

knowledgeof current and emerging trends, issues, and best practices in faculty outreach,instruction,

informationliteracy/technology competency, multi-media production, web technologies,desktop tools

andthe wide variety of technology appliances. He/She uses this knowledge and

experienceto actively identify relevant initiatives for local exploration and possibleimplementation.

TheVideo Production Specialist develops and maintains an understanding of the aimsand needs of the

University'steaching, learning and research programs through active consultation with faculty,

administratorsand information technology peers. Collaborates with faculty and ResearchServices

librariansto inspire and support academic users of information resources andinstructional technology

toenhance teaching and learning.

 

Asappropriate, both leads and participates in key projects and strategicinitiatives related to technology,

outreachand student support.

 

A partof the ITEC team, The Video Production Specialist,

· serves as liaison for facultyin academic departments and related interdisciplinary programs,

worksclosely with Library Liaisons to support instructional and informationalprograms and

activities.

· works with other instructionaltechnologists to assure all faculty feel connected to one or more

instructionaltechnologists

· assures that technology toolsand solutions that support faculty instruction are reliable, well maintained

andsupported effectively

· through active assessment andprogram review, assures work and contributions are meeting

workgroup, organization and University goals

· participates in outreachservices, marketing and assessment program to improve services

· actively identifies possiblepoints for integration and closer interaction with other areas of

Library& IT

· is active in the instructionaltechnology profession at both the national and regional

Mustbe able to work cooperatively with others and accept direction fromsupervisors.

Reportsto the assistant director for instructional technology.

 

Qualifications:

· B.A. required.

· 3-5 years of demonstrated workexperience related to teaching and learning in higher

education.

· Significant knowledge ofcontemporary applications, including Audacity, Final Cut Pro, and

iMovie.Demonstrated capability to master new technologies and applications as needed.

· Demonstrated experiencesupporting the use of digital media and instructional applications in

thecurriculum.

· Demonstrated experienceproducing streaming media and overseeing servers and related

infrastructurecomponents.

· Expertise in media development,production, and post-production, with knowledge of Windows

andMacintosh computer platforms, recent versions of computer operating systems,and

peripheralhardware.

· Expertise with video equipmentand related hardware such as digital video cameras, lighting

equipmentand microphones.

· Ability to write clear,accurate documentation.

· Ability to set priorities andmanage work and deadlines independently required.

· Ability to analyze data andmake local decisions based on national and local trends and to design

processesthat enhance services while maximizing university resources.

· Demonstrated effective oral,written, and interpersonal communication skills.

· Demonstrated ability toeffectively plan and execute workshops and other instruction/teaching

responsibilities.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

· Master's degree in relatedfield preferred.

· Experience working directlywith Final Cut and server/storage concepts particularly as they

relateto media production and distribution.

· Mastery of a broad range ofinstructional technologies, applications and techniques as they

pertainto curricular needs.
