The Media Production Specialist will support the development and production of a wide range of high quality audio and video materials and multimedia projects in the College's academic programs, primarily those based in the Axinn Center. This will include hands-on support and oversight of the infrastructure components and associated media production equipment based in the Axinn Center. He/she will also serve as the primary contact for support issues related to media production and storage issues that involve outside vendors.

Based in the Axinn Center and working closely with the College's Program in Film & Media Culture, this position will provide operational oversight of the production studio space to include the server. This will include creating accounts and allocating storage for students, faculty and staff needs as well as actively maintaining that equipment and assuring its smooth operation for the department. He/she will promote, support and develop innovative uses for digital media and instructional applications. She/he may supervise student staff that support the Axinn Center and the use of digital media and related applications across campus. Responsibilities include:

  • Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.
  • Serves as a primary resource for technology intensive courses, with regard to media production.
  • May teach or assist with workshops or one-on-one instruction for faculty, students and staff on using the suite of multimedia, media production and instructional applications supported by the College.
  • Works with faculty to identify, evaluate and configure digital media resources to enhance classroom teaching.
  • Collaborates on the design of classrooms, laboratories and other teaching spaces.
  • With Library and Information Services (LIS), participates in decisions about the priorities of various instructional technology projects.
  • Serves as a resource for faculty and staff who require information and guidance on the development of digital media.
  • Works closely with the LIS Lab Manager and Media Services workgroup to insure that the Axinn Center classrooms and production studio are properly configured, imaged and functioning as expected.
  • Works closely with LIS Central Systems staff to coordinate support and maintenance activities of Axinn-based server and infrastructure components.
  • Keep apprised of developments in the field, make recommendations on new technologies and purchases.
  • Works directly with LIS to support Middlebury's summer programs and use of resources and facilities in Axinn.
