Web Developer - Colgate University

Job Description:
Working collaboratively with the web development team, this position has primary responsibility for Colgate's web content management system. This position also develops and maintains web tools and applications that support Colgate's public website. The job includes the following responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
- Administer Colgate's Public Website CMS (Sitefinity)- Create web modules using JavaScript and jQuery framework
- Develop and maintain ASP .Net modules and user controls
- Help create and maintain tools that support an ever-improving public website
- Install and update server software as needed
- Help administer SQL Server environment and develop solutions using transactional SQL scripting
- Administer WordPress CMS and stay current on OpenSource CMS solutions
- Develop and maintain web applications that are not readily available as a purchased solution
- Insure backup and recovery procedures are in place for responsible areas
- Serve as a technical consultant for users on web-related problems and questions
- Help allocate and manage web space and privileges for departmental or special web projects
- Work with other ITS teams to troubleshoot problems related to internal web sites, as necessary
- Supports ITS by being a resource to other members of ITS and performing duties outside of this job description on occasions that require work load balancing across ITS
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.- Minimum of three years experience in a web developer position preferred.
Proficiency with some of the following software/programs:
- ASP.NET, C#, VB.NET
- JavaScript (jQeury)
- PHP
- html5
- SQL Server database management and scripting
- MySQL
- Sitefinity
- WordPress
- Source code management (Visual SourceSafe, Git, Mercurial)
- Linux, Windows
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are required.- Ability to solve problems creatively and to work independently and as part of a team is required.
- Broad technical abilities are preferred.
- Must be capable of working collegially with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students.
