Web Services Intern, 12-month temporary position (July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009)

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Web Services, the Web Services Intern (WSI) is a member of the Web Services Team that provides coordinated technical support for the College’s Web presence.  The WSI implements projects and programs included in the Team’s work-plan.  This requires fluency in standard web programming languages and technical documentation.  Frequent collaboration with the Web staff in the Office of College Communications is expected.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
•    Assist with designing and building web-enabled databases
•    Assist with web application design / web development services
•    Assist with web development efforts on the integration of back-end database systems
•    Implement projects as assigned

Successful candidates should have a demonstrated ability to create integrated web pages and have the following skills and knowledge:
•    Working knowledge of: HTML/CSS, Javascript.
•    Working knowledge  of at least one structured programming language, PHP preferred.
•    Familiarity with SQL and each of the four query types.
•    Understands basic relational database concepts.
•    Familiarity with standard digital media formats and benefits and applications

A 2-year Associates Degree in electronic media, web design and or related field is minimum; with a Bachelor’s Degree in electronic media or related field preferred.
